Intern at The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate
The first two are specialized and require specific skills in art or sport. The latter three could be add-on duties for an intern performing one of the first two or be combined into one job description and have other duties assigned as they come along on other events and initiatives. Our intern would need to have reliable transportation and proven people skills with adults, children, and teenagers.
Art Program Intern
Art Program Aide will assist Program Director in planning, implementing and evaluating art program classes and events. Art areas include creative writing, drama, film, music, visual arts and photography. Art Program Aide will teach classes in one or more of the art areas assist in preparing and coordinating exhibits and performances of club member work, and assist with grant writing for our arts program.
Sports and Fitness Program Intern
An intern with coaching/playing experience in tennis, golf, baseball, lacrosse, track and possibly other sports, would be able to implement sport programs in our Clubs during the afternoon during school and anytime during the summer months. The goal with any sport would be to conduct learning clinic-style weekly classes until groups are ready for intra-club competition. Potential hours are up to 35 per week for 40 weeks a year = 1400 total.
Marketing/Events
Assist with our advertising/marketing campaign and special events. Marketing intern will assist with our print, radio and t.v. advertising. Any graphic design /video experience a plus. Assist in coordinating Special Events, particularly our annual Tennis Tournament at Spartanburg Country Club.
Family PLUS Intern
Family plus Aide will assist in planning, implementing and evaluating the Family Plus program at Mary Wright Club. Family Plus is a comprehensive program designed to strengthen families and communities by empowering parents and improving their situations. Potential hours 5 to 10 hours per week during school year, 30 weeks, = 150 to 300 hours total during the year.
Vikings Keystone Advisor Intern
We operate a service/career club at Spartanburg High School (SHS) open to all SHS students. The Club meets monthly from 6 to 8 p.m. off campus and has periodic committee meetings after school. Keystone Clubs are a program of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). The intern will assist Boys & Girls Club president, Greg Tolbert, with various duties including:
• Handling club registration, attendance, and enrollment tracking
• Club charter renewal via BGCA
• Coordination of the BGCA national Keystone Service Project with the Keystone Club, committee meetings, service, and reporting.
• Attend monthly meetings and periodic committee meetings to foster Keystone officers in leading the club and making progress on goals each month: Goals focus on membership, marketing, and service.
• Provide food coordination and agenda development for each monthly meeting.
